SPMT 396 - Sport Sales & Fundraising​
The sport industry requires students who are trained in all aspects of sport business. This course develops a framework for understanding the business aspects of sport management. It provides future sport managers with a broad view of the factors underlying sport economics, sales and sales management strategies, budgeting, financing strategies, and economic impact. This course is designed to familiarize students with: the economics of sport, interscholastic sports budget and finance, intercollegiate athletics budget and finance, professional sport budget and finance, sales techniques, and sales management.

Coursework
1. Mt. Union Sport Sales Workshop & Job Fair: This was the first conference I ever attended and it changed my approach to networking in the sport industry. I exchanged over 25 business cards at this conference. One significant relationship I built was with Matt Hastings, the Director of Ticket Sales for the Ohio Machine Major League Lacrosse team. After speaking with Matt and following up he help me gain my 2012 summer internship experience with the Rochester Rattlers and Rhinos.

2. Financial Analysis: This project required I work with a partner and select two collegiate athletics programs within a similar region. We were assigned to research, analyze, and understand the current financial stability of these athletic programs along with their sources of revenue and expenditures. We chose the University of Florida and the University of North Florida; both Division One Collegiate Athletics Programs. The project required a final report and class presentation.

3. Personal Budget: This project required that I keep a tally of all my purchases for a total of 30 days and then enter the information into an organized excel spreadsheet. Afterwards I analyzed my expenses, and categorized them in different forms of purchase. Then I wrote a report on my personal budget and identified how I can save money every month with different strategies.
