This course develops a framework for understanding the international aspects of sport management. It provides future sport managers with a broad view of the factors underlying international sport competition, sport economics, sport marketing, sport management, and sport governance. Emphasis is on environmental dynamics, cultural and economic constraints, multinational sport business organizations, unique international sport events and international sport operations, strategy and policy.

Coursework

1. Country Report on Spain: This project required that I work with a partner to conduct in depth research on the demographic and culture of Spain along with dissecting etiquette in the country from appearance to business negotiations, meals, table manners, and time. We also researched on the most popular sports in Spain; mainly soccer treated like a religion in Spain. This expanded my knowledge in the sport industry internationally to the customs and traditions of Spain.

  • Select on the Spain flag to be directed to the Report

2. Country Report PowerPoint Presentation: My partner, Drew Yourick and I created a PowerPoint presentation reflecting our report on Spain. We also developed an in class presentation practicing the different etiquettes in Spain and gave our classmates the opportunity to practice with their neighbor.
