Stand Up Comedy Program: Erik Griffin
Friday, September 6, 2013
To kick off the fall 2013 semester the Slippery Rock University Progarm Board hosted stand up comedian and television personality Erik Griffin. Erik Griffin has been doing stand up comedy for more than 10 years across the country and is most well known for his role as "Montez" on Comedy Central's hit television show Workaholics.
The event drew over 600 students on Friday night to the Smith Student Center Ballroom to hear Erik Griffin's jokes. The University Program Board Concerts and Comedians committee only had two weeks to promote the event to students on campus so they took advantage of every opportuntiy available to them.
During the club and organizational fair we had students walking around handing out quarter sheet flyers attached to laffy taffy, this is irresitable to students -- free candy that is. Other efforts made by the committee including designing several posters to be hung in different locations on and off campus. The committee posted over 350 flyers on and off campus and posted tri folds on over 355 dining services tables across campus. The program was great success and students were so thrilled to have the opportuntiy to take an individual photograph with Erik Griffin following the program. This is something I've learned to add into contract agreements during my experience working with celebrities -- everything needs to be in writing!
